Welcome to the Hawai`i Innocence Project Home Page.

The Hawai`i Innocence Project operates as a cooperative effort of the University of Hawai`i's William S. Richardson School of Law and the California Western School of Law.

The Hawai`i Innocence Project is not for profit; it exists for the purposes of providing free representation to persons wrongly convicted of crime and still incarcerated, who have a credible claim of actual innocence. All work on Hawai`i matters is handled in Hawai`i by Hawai`i attorneys and student volunteers supervised by those attorneys. For some news stories about the Hawai`i Innocence project, see  HIP In the News

To propose a case for review, the inmate must complete the forms (click HERE)

All screening of applications will be done through the San Diego office so as not to duplicate staff and consume resources.  Calls and letters should be directed to the San Diego Office at:

Please note: Because there has been some confusion, we wish to make clear that the Hawai`i Innocence Project is NOT and has never been affiliated with a certain for-profit entity representing itself variously as "Express Legal Services;" the "Hawai`i Innocent Project;" the "Foundation for Innocence" and/or "HawaiiInnocence2002".
